Yes, Dave gave me a pre-release copy back in May which had three mixes for each of the tracks (although I couldn't tell the difference between each of the versions). I was absolutely floored. I found myself with those songs in my head all the time. They're just, for lack of a better phrase, damn catchy tunes.

I included NTF and Bang on this list just because they were the first full-length albums from either of you and the ones where I really first heard something that sound polished and like it just couldn't be who I knew it was. I agree that the EP Doll and the new GRS stuff I've heard is even better, but that wasn't where I had the realization that you guys are just too damn good.

Do you have a copy of EP Doll by The Coal Men?

It's amazing.

"Nowhere's Too Far" is good, but this EP blew me away. The songs are so natural, catchy and original. I've been listening to it all day.

If you don't have it, you need to get it ASAP.

You can (and should) still have your thunder. I believe you. You could even scan in the napkin (or whatever) as proof. I know your witnesses will back you up.

Honestly, I think people read Kotkke's remaindered links as much as his posts. Now that del.icio.us is so popular, I don't know how well his model is going to fly. Oh well, I still read his site. (Garrick Van Buren' site and podcast are great, as well.)

That's so weird. Several of us wrote down our most influential albums one night at Crawdaddie's. We were restricting the list to post-grunge albums. This was a month or so ago. At the time I thought it would be cool to list them all on my blog. Now Kottke stole my thunder. I guess that's why he gets paid to blog.
